UN TRAVEL BAN

Poll Comments :

  • These fellow stole the nation resources to hurt the same nation . Why should they be allow to travel; to enhence thier contact, I don''t hhink so.
    06/01/2007
  • To begin with, they did nothing wrong. Their rights have been infringed upon by Superpowers who felt threatened by Taylor regime. These INNOCENT people were never given a day in court by those Superpowers who profess to believe in human rights including the right to movement. And for you stooges and protege of Ellen and other warring faction leaders, fight for yourself and don"t rely on the Whitemen to fight for you. According to International Law, an accused is Innocent until proven guilty in the court of law. Which court these innocent people was convicted in? You guys are being surrounded by a fog of paranoa which conpelling you guys to retreat in fear.
    06/01/2007
  • To avoid our country from further chaos and reprisal, we strongly recommend WAR CRIMES COURT IN LIBERIA. We do not want selective justice. On another note, all those that are responsible for our suffering will not go unpunished. It doesn''t matter how long Ellen tries to delay. They will all pay equal price like Taylor and his followers. It is just a matter of time, but it will happen. If they didn''t want to pay, they should not have plunged our country into WAR and solely put the blame on ONE MAN who became popular as the result of their schemes and politics against Samuel Doe. Their actions have far reaching and irreversible consequencies.
    06/01/2007
  • I diametrically opposed to the wordings of your question. However though, I will vote on your poll. All I have to say, these individuals are only smeared because of the affiliation with the most fairest Election within our times that produced the most independent and patriotic Leader of not only Liberia, but the African continent. Let these MEN be a free man.
    06/01/2007
  • For those of you who still bear true faith and allegiance to your Colonial Masters, it is awfully embarrassing and repugnant on you. Shame on you. Your own Government inability in enforcing UN travel ban just last month tells you that the ban is irrelevant. For example: Chief Cyril Allen left Liberia via way of RIA to Nigeria for his late father funeral. May his soul rest in peace. His passport was stamped by the Liberian Government. He returned through the same medium. Why your DUMB ASS PRESIDENT COULD NOT HAVE STOPPED HIM? No country in the entire subregion has implemented their so-called travel ban. You guys don''t have anything to hide behind anymore. You have been unmasked and your true nature has been discovered. For some of us, we knew you guys already. The truth will be revealed and all flesh should see your character flaw.
    06/01/2007
  • It is not surprising to the Liberian people that a very few of you including the CONVICT TURNED PRESIDENT ELLEN don''t want the screws loosening a little bit on Taylor and his supporters. Reason being that Taylor and other patriotic and independent Liberians are still popular in Liberia. They are seen as a potential threat to the reign of ELLEN, SAWYER, FAHNBULLAH, KOFI WOODS, TIAWON GONGLE, JOHNSON MORRIS,AND ECT ALL SERVING CURRENTLY IN THE PRESENT GOVERNMENT.NOTWITHSTANDING, THEY WILL DO EVERYTHING WITHIN THEIR POWER TO ANNIHILATE THESE SONS OF LIBERIA BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY. For example: there was a Bi-election last year for Margibi county as a result of the passing away of the representative. Chief Cyril Allen decided to contest the vacancy for that district. He followed all the elections guidlines and rules. In the end, Ellen and her lousy election commissioner denied him to participate in the election, on grounds that he has not lived in the district for a considerable period of time. According to their Bogus reason, our law states that you must be a resident of the district. Contrary to their charge, Chief Allen lives in the district. Besides, If we were actually following the laws, will the convict turned president be occupying our executive mansion today? She was indicted, tried and convicted in the court of law in Liberia on treason charges by the late head of State Samuel Doe''s government. At least that criminal record has not been expunged yet. Therefore, she is still a criminal. As a result of her criminal record, she was not qualified to run for president. Second point: Our constitution states that you must have resided in Liberia for at least TEN YEARS before contesting the presidential election. This law was writted by Dr. Sawyer in 1986. Did Ellen and other candidates lived in Liberia for TEN YEARS before contesting the election? The answer is NO!!!!! No more hide and seek. We know where you are.
    06/01/2007
  • These people took advantage of their positions, using the Liberian Government,s money. They should be made as examples that future officials know they can not get away with such actions.
    06/01/2007
  • Just by looking at your poll results for now, it tells me why undemocratic people are the way they are. Most of these people who don''t want to see the travel ban lifted are residing in America as a result of ASYLUM. Almost 98% of them got their status on grounds that Taylor allegedly wanted to kill them. Therefore they have to continue their story. They have access to computers obviously and still the poll is showing a statistical deadheat. What if all the people living in Liberia voted? the poll will not even be close. No wonder why they brought war again. They were frustrated especially when they heard millions of Liberians singing and chanting "you killed my pa you killed my ma i will vote for you." It is saddened that these bunch of elitists still finding it difficult to get rid of Taylor image inspect of their massive international support.
    06/01/2007
  • Yes, I believe the ban should be lifted, but, only on those who we know could not have made the funds they have re their role in government at the time. If not, we would be invitingthe same action from officials in government now.
    06/10/2007
  • These people stole a lot from Liberia...no way should ban be lifted...now is the now for love, peace, and rebuilting of "my sweet Liberia"
    06/10/2007
  • Yes, but only those who appear less of a threat.
    06/11/2007
  • Those rogues should remained in Liberia until we can try them some day.
    06/11/2007
  • all those who stole money from the people be made to return every penny, and be forgiven.
    06/11/2007
  • All we are saying is"pharaohs let our people go", and let them be free citizens again.
    06/02/2007
  • What is the STANDARD here. There same UN reported SEVEN MILLION DOLLARS unaccounted at H arry Grieve''s LPRC. Where is justice?
    06/02/2007
  • According to them the reason why the travel ban was instituted was because Taylor will use his lieutenants to renew fighting in Liberia. If this is true, than the reason is no more valid. For instance: where is Charles Taylor today? In the SLAVE MASTER''S JAIL CELL. How can he possibly wage war in Liberia when he is in the custody of the POWERFUL? Leave our citizens alone and run your slave plantation.
    06/02/2007
  • What happened to the other people on the travel ban besides Taylor people? I guessed they are not as important as the ban itself. Do you know why they are not much of a concern? Because, naturally the Liberian people will not elect them them in power. But they will elect the Taylor people in power. That is why their names are not mentioned. By evidence of the poll questions, it says a lot.
    06/02/2007
  • what???and contribute to another civil war? These people are murderers. We must progress and not regress into the abyss of constant internal conflict. What could be gained from elevating their status? if they are allowed to travel they will cause turmoil and strife and use those funds to generate problems in the countryside that will eliminate all of the gains that Ms. Sirleaf has strived to put forward
    06/02/2007
  • no way, they theives
    06/02/2007
  • The more we get together the happy it will be. And your friend is my friend and my friend is your friend. Let all of us be a free citizens once more and move forward. ON ON WE GO.
    06/02/2007
  • these people are still threat to liberia. They need to pay for lives destroyed. They are still enjoying the money they stole from liberia. Let them remained on the ban indefinately
    06/02/2007
  • I''m tired seeing and hearing from IDIOT PROOF. DAMN IT !!! Stand on your own feet for one second for god sake. Fight your own fight. Use your power of persuasion to convince the Liberian people to arrest and riot against Taylor and his loyalists. One moment these IDIOT PROOFS will say, we are equale to the whiteman. The second minute we cannot stand on our own. The third minute the whiteman will fight and die for us. The forth minute please let not the whiteman release Taylor. And the last minute they suppose to jail all his supporters. What are you? Because the whiteman has not said Chief Allen violated the travel ban, therefore he will be arrested and send to the Hague for SECURITY REASON; it has not happened yet. Nobody has said it. Bunch of echo chambers and soundbites.
    06/02/2007
  • I said no, because ther natural resources the almighty God blessed a country with and it must be distrubuted fairly by those individuals trusted by their fellowmen as leaders. Now, there is nowhere on earth, in the community of civilized people," where the leaders elected or appointed sit by and watch their citizens satrve to death just because they, ( the leaders) put themselves above those they serve. Without delay, let all legal formalities be put place so these guys will be brought to justice; if they are guilty, the penalty of restitution be made mandatory to the Liberian People. While the citizens are aware of the availability of enormus resources, they (the citizens)are guided by laws not to explore them without government authorization. Equally so, those who are elected or appointed by the citens of the country to explore, devise avenue or streategies generate revenue, should also be guided by the same law. Now, when revenue has been generated, by economic principle, it must be distributed equally and fairly. Most atonishingly, why a church-rat pennyless individuals who came from nowhere will fabulous bank accounts, skyscrappers within less than a year. Again, I will appreciate if The UN will make sure that those corrupt guys put back in the coffin of all the money they stole from the Liberian people.
    06/04/2007
  • There are two main reasons why Liberia has not had a reemergence of another CIVIL WAR. Reason one: THOSE TROUBLE MAKERS AND WAR MONGERS ARE IN POWER NOW AND YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE. Reason two: THE PRESENCE OF 15000/18000 UN TROOPS ON THE GROUNDS. Make no mistake about it. It is not the so-called travel ban.
    06/04/2007
  • I''m one of those Liberians living in the US who is following the trend of events in Liberia. I''m very much disappointed and displeased in the International Community and the International Justice System. They are not leading by example. They denied Liberians from traveling without any court proceedings. They are also denying our former President Charles Taylor a fair trial. What is wrong with these people? They think all Black Africans are stupid? I will be the first to admit. Some amongst us are very very stupid, but not all of us.
    06/04/2007
  • Taylor reason for not appearing in court today is geniune and concrete. He was right when he said he will not be accorded fair trial. However, I will strongly suggest to the whiteman to go ahead and just KILL HIM. That is what they want. Thankfully enough, Taylor knows it. He should not go to any court no day. Let them do whatever they want to do.
    06/04/2007
  • Those on the banned are criminals and murders. I do no know why the war crimes did not extend to liberia? It is not fair for the people killed during the war for Prince Johnson and others to be in the senate and house of representatives. The will not be a genuine peace in Liberia unless those big players are brought to justice including the president Mrs. sirleaf.
    06/05/2007
  • TAYLOR HAS PROVEN ONCE MORE THAT ALL BLACK PEOPLE ARE NOT USABLE AND STUPID. BY EVIDENCE OF HIS ACTION YESTERDAY COMPELLED THE COURT AND THE PRESIDING JUDGE TO IMMEDIATELY ORDER MR. VINCENT NMEHIELLE TO FLY FROM SIERRA LEONOE TO MEET WITH MR. TAYLOR. THE COUURT ALSO TRIED TO FORCE MR KAHN TO STAY FOR THE OPENING DAY ,EVENTHOUGH MR. KAHN HAD BEEN FIRED. WE SAY BRAVO ZULU TO MR. TAYLOR AND MR. KAHN. WE SAY JOB WELL DONE. THE LIBERIAN PEOPLE LOVE YOU.
    06/05/2007
  • Let them justified there wealth in court before consideration.

  • I think a law should be passed that whosever is found to be engaged in corrupt practices be banned from travel and this restriction must be extended to the next of kins and other family members. They should be made to restitute the money and be banned from working in public office. For instance, how much was Lewis Brown earning that he was able to construct that hugh house on ELWA Road? Look at Cyril Allen, who stole equipment and parts from LPRC worked with Taylor stole and built a helluva mansion and called a party for 5 days to dedicate his new home. All of Taylor''s cronies should remain the travel ban, their assets audited, salary/benefits versus amount spent in building large homes. Where did Taylor get money from to have built that on Sinkor-Tubman Boulevard? That build must be ceased, leased/rented to generate money for the Government. All those idoitic Taylor''s people can freely talk and complain about this and dat. Who could do that during Taylor''s administration. We saw how Tiawon Gongloe, Milton Teahjay and the others left Liberia and to mention how Samuel Dokie and family were killed.
    06/06/2007
  • YOU MUST PAY THE PRICE FOR YOUR EVIL DOINGS.
    06/06/2007
  • This will serve as an example so others won''t do it.
    06/06/2007
  • OH! THE PREVIOUS WRITER FORGOT SOME IMPORTANT PEOPLE NAMES THAT TAYLOR KILLED. JUST TO ADD ON HIS LISTING OF SAM DOKIE, I WILL LIKE TO NAME THE FOLLOWINGS. MANA ZICKAY, JOHN YORMIE,MOSQUITO, SAM LATO, MARCUS KARL, CACIOUS JACOBS, NIXON GAY AND MOSES DUOPU. YOU HAVE NO POINT ON THIS MAN CALL TAYLOR. YOU ARE TRYING SO HAD TO FIND NAMES UNTIL YOU ARE MAKING MENTION OF REBELS. WHEN REBEL KILLS REBEL DAT TROUBLE.
    06/06/2007
  • Let say the UN decides to lift the Travel ban on Taylor''s people. What will you do? The truest answer is nothing. Let say the UN Does not decide to punish Chief Cyril Allen for violating his Travel ban as it stands now. What are you doing about it? The honest answer is nothing. The whiteman does not care about you. He does whatever he wants to do without your approval. The only reason why they took Taylor out of his game plan is because he refused to give them our resources. If he was willing, he would have been president for life especially with the popularity he has amongst the Liberian people. So I say to you shut the fuck up.
    06/06/2007
  • Let those corrupt government officials pay back the money they stole before they can be relief of their TRAVEL BAN.
    06/06/2007
  • What`s the purpose of the ban now. Taylor is facing trial at the Hague. Some of these people are wrongfully acused.
    06/07/2007
  • They should definitely pay back what they stole.
    06/07/2007
  • one should not be punished twice for one crime. their behaviors were cause by the order of day at the time.
    06/07/2007
  • The UN plays a double standard most of the time. President Sirleaf is credited as being the godmother of War in Liberia. She has been favored were those people more of athreat than her? Didn''t she organize the War in this country in the first place. These are just some of the double standard practiced by the UN and the West. Lift the travel ban just some
    06/07/2007
  • Hell no. They were put on the list for a reason, has the list accomplishded anything, I don''t think so, there are people who still think they are above the law. let wait awhile and the international community will forget about us and the Liberians people will forgive. Enough is enough, let them still there. Why do people in our govt. think they are above the law, just look at the present adminstration.
    06/07/2007
  • these people are the worst citizens any country can ask for. it willbe even better for our country tohave them pay our money back , leave our country and never come back. etl
    06/07/2007
  • Let them continue to be grounded. They travelled enough during their days- The Taylor era. Momo from Logan Town, Monrovia
    06/07/2007
  • Each case should be reviewed and those found to be liable should restitute the funds before any consideration is given them.
    06/08/2007
  • The culture of impunity has to stop some where and with some one in as much as these people may be our relatives, love ones, frineds and so on. We need to take accountability very serious especially public accountability. If we must stop or to realistic by minimizing corruption, then we must hold these people accountable to restitute whatever funds they took from governement coffers before the travel ban can be lifted on them. If we lift the ban now, many will flee and that will be the end of the whole affair.
    06/08/2007
  • These people are not regretting the evil they committed against the Liberian people, they are still having the notion that Taylor has no reason for being in the hague and anybody with such a mind is a dangerous person, and I think they be observed for some more time before lifting the ban.
    06/09/2007
  • the goverment''s not serious about ending corruption, all the top officials are making there self rich.it''s business as usual, elephant meat cut your own.mrs.sileaf can preach all she want.whatever happen to her hand pick mr.harry grieves, and the oil deal,no inquires.
    06/09/2007
  • they must be procecuted
    06/09/2007
  • Those guys should pay back the Liberian people of what they earned during the Corruption Era of Charles Taylor of which they was a part before the Travel Ban is lifted.
    06/09/2007
  • The travel ban is another way to keep at bay those who have put the country into lots of troubles over the years from travelling and meeting their devilish business partners and engaging in another dirty destruction tactics.
