IMPRESSION OF LEGISLATIVE BRANCH

  • Shame on those that are voting in favour of down-right unconstitutional laws!
    05/10/2007
  • That ultra important brach of government is occupied by fools, functionally illiterates and down right stupid individuals. It is very unfortunate that our people "elected" such trashy group to represent them.
    05/10/2007
  • While it is true that these legislators are allegedly corrupt, they are not stupid. They understand that Ellen is a moral depravity of kleptocracy. Therefore, they have embarked on creating means of ligitimately embazzling funds. For example: Ellen allowed only Sinkor Trading Company (monopoly) to import rice in Liberia. She gets at least $2.00 on every bag of rice sold. She brought legal immigration charges against K&K,and closed George Haddat down from importing rice for life. She allocated $295 million dollars for so call paying "domestic debts." According to her standard of measurement, government owed past rent to a Ghanian landlord and some house owners since 1984. There is no varifiable evidence to back that claim. However though, she and her finance minister allegedly shared the money amongst themselves. She had just created another bureacracy for Dr. sawyer calling it GRC. Sawyer requested for 25 million dollars for his GRC. She gave Sawyer his and took hers; eventhough she has a policy of right and down sizing, and limited government. LPRC Harry Grieve is not part of the fiscal budget. She and Uncle Harry own LPRC. She allotted 1 million dollars for her office staffs every month. She allegedly got 15 million dollars from Mittal Steel in order to give them the green light needed to operate. The list of corrupt and ethical inproprierity on Ellen''s part doesn''t seem to have an end. Therefore, these law makers are finding ways of chopping too. Let me make it very clear; there is no moral equavocation to justify this evolution of an unpopular culture. The law makers gamic is unacceptable and awfully embarrassing.. They all are guilty of the same crime. Let them not get away with it.
    05/10/2007
  • we should not cast judgment on the entire legislative branch, but we should judge righteously. Those corrupt individuals must be voted out in the next general election. A hint to the wise is quite sufficient.
    05/11/2007
  • Why are some of you guys frowninig and condemning these legislators now. Why investigation now? Why Ellen thinks the Financial Autonomy Act is characterized with plain possession of demonic evil? Ellen, you had set the stage for her own government failure. In fact, growing evidence has suggested to the Liberian people that this President has no regards for the law.For example:It was alleged that Ellen gave some legislators about $ 5,000.00 to sign a petition in the removal of Speaker Snowe. Nothing came out of that case. The Supreme Court ruled that the business and setting of some of the renegade law makers in the township of Virginia was illegal and unconstitutional. The President was served a letter not to go to the Unity Conference Center by the Supreme Court. She ignored and disrespected her own Court. Reason being that she wanted Snowe to go down at all cost. She clandestinely wrote a letter to Nigeria asking for the former President of Liberia unilaterally without the aquiance and consent of our people. Taylor was arrested and handcuffed right in Liberia with Tiawon Gongloe (solicitor General) reading Taylor''s right, eventhough Liberia has no charge on him. Let them sort it out. It is good for Liberia. We want our Country back from these bunch of criminals including the convict turned president (Ellen). At least that criminal record has not being expunged yet. Therefore, she is still a criminal.
    05/11/2007
  • The most corrupt group ever. If elections were held today, those group of idiot would be out.
    05/12/2007
  • They are bunch of irresponsible people. They go around crediting money from money changers and most of them lack their own dwellings. They need to redeclared their assets or we sor them out. Any legislator without a home must be impeach immediately.
    05/13/2007
  • This is another attempt by greedy and unscrupulous, so-called "lawmakers" to usurp the legitimate authority of a constituted government, elected by the people and for the people. It is obvious that they are not on the side of Liberia, but their own greedy side. Concerned Liberian
    05/14/2007
  • Less than a quater of them are quite competent while the rest are a bunch of highly incompetent individuals. We will get them during the next election and I can gurantee the Liberian people that we would repeal most of the laws enacted by these incompetent, self aggradizing individuals
    05/14/2007
  • Worthless corrupt individuals who thrive on the culture of impunity!!
    05/14/2007
  • I don''t think Ellen will pursuit this route of exposure of the National Legilature on corruption charges. Reason being that she is afraid of reprisal. She could be publically embarrassed, exposed, impugned with condescession, and possibly be impeached and removed from office for felony, misdemeanor in high places, and constitutional violation. Remember,Ellen has so many baggages and dirts. Therefore, Ellen is smart enough not to push the envelop. She will cut enough slacks for them. However though, they are all incompent and corrupt. Therfore, we must reclaim our Country back. We want a liberia attainable within our times that these kind of behaviors can not exist.
    05/14/2007
  • The facts speak for themselves. These killers and their criminal accomplices mixed with a few mediocres have not put forward a single Social Act for any public policy and social welfare program. Their constuencies must know that their non-caring lawmakers are simply as graves which look great on the outside , but nothing but rotteness in the inside. The nine years MUST be reduced to three years.
    05/14/2007
  • So sad and embarrassing. The fact that a lot of those Legislators personally participated in the civil war and killed innocent Liberians makes it sad and embarrassing that Liberians could vote them into office as Legislators. This proves to the world that something is wrong with Liberians.Had it not being for the good reputation and credibility of president Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, many countries would not be supporting our efforts to restore peace and sanity to our beloved country. This is why president Sirleaf is continuously travelling around the world seeking assistance. My only hope is that president Sirleaf will get the necessary support for Liberians to get quality education. With education, I personally believe that Liberians will make better judgement next time around.I hope the bad apples are weeded out time to come. Emmanuel O. Davies<emmandavies13@yahoo.com>California,USA
    05/14/2007
  • Except for avery few leveled headed individuals, the Legislature is composed of bunch murderers, common thieves, illiterate fools who do not know the letter " L'' in Legislature. What else can we expect from such a body other than bribery, extortion and the likes.
    05/14/2007
  • They are the worst and need to be change
    05/14/2007
  • they lack direcction, nationlism and has over the time since they got elected brought more disgrace to Liberia than what all the wars in Liberia have done.
    05/14/2007
  • Wyh blame those scoundrels when the voters elected them into office in the first place? We had over fifteen candidates running for the presidency and they all forgot about the Legislature leaving that August body to thieves and you know what. It''s a new day in Liberia with a New Sheriff in town.
    05/15/2007
  • I am greatly diappointed in my so-called lawmakers who seek their own interest. Dweh N. Nyenmoh, II Monrovia, Lineria
    05/15/2007
  • These people should be taught good governance, parliamentary procedures, and about the Constitution of Liberia. They should avoid oppong''s party, charles taylor''s npp, lurd''s rebel party, and Ellen''s Unity Party but rather concentrate on how to improve the country and livelihood of the citizenry. They are engaged in elementary and high school politics. The legislators should be cross trained in diplomacy, public speaking, work ethics, business ettiquette, Liberian history, international relations. How many of these lawmakers can face the US media during for interviews, briefings, and press conferences? Most of these people are concerned about luxurious cars, US dollars salaries, fringe benefits and do not seek the interest of their constituents.
    05/15/2007
  • A few good apples amongst the worst group of lawmakers in Liberia - animals, not humans.
    05/15/2007
  • The TLA and INA (I stand to be corrected) wanted to change the tenure of this august body. This was only considered when they were on their way out. HOW HYPOCRITIC!!!! How can Senators and Representatives of the house be in power to STEAL for all those years????? I challenge any of you to sponsor a bill to reduce your tenure!!! Progressives like Mobutu Nyenpan and Rufus Neuville should take the first step. I am also looking forward to Cletus Wotorson, Dusty Wollokollie and Blamo Nelson to do this in the interest of the Liberian people. You all will NOT be in office forever. Who amongst you DARE to put aside his interest for once, and really serve us???? Oh, before I go, roguish QUEEN Cyril Allen, Lewis “stolen money” Browne, Benoni “Taylor’s pet” Urey, Edwin “NOSE” Snowe, Samuel “Commerce Rogue” Wlue and all of you who think you have gotten away with stealing our money, will be persecuted. Ask Dr. Momoh “Educated” Gibba. Arm Robbers and Issakaba, Joe Tate is really turning in his grave!!!! -HRH
    05/15/2007
  • they are all rubbish, greedy
    05/15/2007
  • They are all people of no directions. They have no agenda, worst of worst.
    05/16/2007
  • All I have to say is look at the past records of these legislators and see what they did prior to winning the elections. I think we will have a better crop of legislators after the next elections.
    05/16/2007
  • I think it will be better to narrow the question to a specific issue rather than the impression of the First Branch. Thanks, Good Luck.
    05/17/2007
  • They have a hidden selfish agenda for themselves. But the Liberian people are no more fools. Majority of them got over there by chance hanging on the cloak of an icon. We know them...There will be a veto!
    05/17/2007
  • I hate them.
    05/17/2007
  • Yeah, yeah, yeah
    05/17/2007
  • i am a liberian and i hate the fact that majority of the lawmakers aspire to that position. every liberian i know has one goal in mind. "I want to work for the government so i can steal money" or i want to be in government so i can get all of the 14 to 21 year old girls to have sex with. Or i can get a dash from being a lawmaker. What a shame
    05/18/2007
  • True. But I believe 2012 elections will produce better lawmakers.
    05/18/2007
  • The present Liberia''s legislative branch of government is mostly a bunch of opportunistic, self-angradizing individuals who think, like the other two branches, that Liberia belongs to them and therefore it is theirs for the taking. It is awfully so corrupt, need not mention for its obviousness, that it defies being baffled. What a farce. My People, we need people with integrity and some conscience to lead our country. What do you intend to do about it? Please help us help ourselves and leave the dated ideologies by the wayside for the benefit of our entirety.
    05/18/2007
  • corrupt people with many lies.
    05/18/2007
  • The legislative branch of the Liberian gov''t is the most corrupt and less impressive body i have ever seen.5/19/07 JAMAAL
    05/19/2007
  • greave seeker
    05/19/2007
  • We have got right now to make atleast alot right and those criminals are only thinking of themselves and families and increase pay while 80% of the country still live on $1.00 a day and girls as young as 13 and fourteen are prostituting for food and money for education.
    05/19/2007
  • These lawmakers are not ashame of themselves, that is why they need to be changed at once at the next elections because mama Liberia does not need them at all.How in this world can lawmakers exemp themselves from paying taxes and expect the poor people to suffer by compelling them to pay their taxes? This country needs law-abiding citizens and not these looters!
    05/20/2007
  • inexperience folks, need to learn how to make law
    05/20/2007
  • They are just after their own selfish interest and not the welfare of the Liberian people.
    05/21/2007
  • all we hear is give me the money
    05/21/2007
  • they are the best because they have a leader that will not compromise the integrity of leadership with bribes and influence. we need an american checks and balances system which will reduce the abuse and influence of government officials. I still say that the liberian men are immature, greedy, and individuals who thrive on exploiting young girls with their influence and money(they also have daughters)
    05/21/2007
  • political inabilities and education are the needed tools killing the system in both houses.
    05/21/2007
  • I think it is unfortunate the situation with the this "Financial Autonomy Act" been passed by both houses of the Legislature. I mean, are these elected officials representing the people or they''re here to enrich themseves. I believed that been elected to represent your people means you''re now a servant of the people. How many times has these so called Senators and Representatives gone back to their constituecies to brief their citizents on legislation been debated or passed? Shame on them with their so called "Financial Autonomy Act."
    05/22/2007
  • We need to set ablaze this bunch of non-carring and corrupt lawmakers while they are in session!
    05/22/2007
  • The Liberian President needs to stay her black old ass in LIberia and run the damn country!!! this shit is not a damn vacation.
    05/23/2007
  • Some lawmakers are "factioned" oriented just as they were during the past elections.
    05/23/2007
  • because they are not educated to the letter
    05/23/2007
  • History will repeat itself, as it always has and will. Why would it be different this time?
    05/23/2007
  • Let us be real here. What is this Act called? Financial Autonomy Act. Is that right? I think it is right. What''s wrong with being Autonomous and Independent Financially? Especially when the Executive and Judiciary have the same thing. Liberians, open your eyes. Ellen and her diciples are bunch of tricksters and kleptominaic. Don''t let them fool you. How is Ellen making all these Travel trips, Donations and bribes in the first place if the Executive weren''t Autonomous and Independent Financially? You can fool some people some times, but you can not fool all of the people all of the times. The bottom line here my fellow Liberians, Ellen does''t want these Legislators Autonomous. Reason being that their autonomy will metagate unduly influence from the Executive. Like the previous writer said Ellen will not push the envelop. It will pass and become law.
    05/23/2007
  • USELESS
    05/24/2007
  • Bunch of criminals seeking self interest. Don''t be suprise when their time expire, they will take the office equipments with them. No one cares for Government property in Liberia, not even Ellen.
    05/24/2007
  • May someone please tell me why we can not see Ellen and Gaddafield, Ellen and Bliss Capara in a publically viewable fashion? Why their photos are not perminantly displayed on the internet, or other news outlet? Too mush double standard. Ellen you will be a victim of your own trap. And for your stooges and lousy supporters, they have two options, they either change their personal behavior problems, or be caught out in an inescapable reality of shame.
    05/24/2007
  • I believe this marks the type of men and women who are our today "Honorables". They like us hear about all the "BIG MILLIONS" supposingly pouring into the coifers of the nation and so, to be able to enrich themselves and their families, they seek to put into place a law that will not in anyway bar their spending. They are so moreover because over half of them do not know anything. Can you imagine, Prince Johnson speaking of "Transparency and Democracy"?
    05/24/2007
  • The Sirleaf Goverment, is the best The Country ever had.
    05/25/2007
  • Can you imagin, these so call lawmakers make and seek their own personel interest and above all they have no regards for the rule of laws by stealing what they did not put there.
    05/26/2007
  • Some of those idiots need to be thoroughly schooled about the responsibility of a legislator and the fact that they are servants of the public who pay their salaries by taxes which every citizen has an obligation to pay under the laws of the Republic of Liberia. How dare some idiots come up with such stupid notion on the grounds that this will provide for transperency in government.
    05/27/2007
  • I don''t have much coments, but I only have a word for those who thinks that Mrs. Sirleaf''s trips are wasteful must revove the cloth of critisism from their face and see what she is doing. And remove the wax from their ears to hear what she is doing. Thank you Peter W. Nagbe Monrovia.
    05/28/2007
  • No matter what happens, we love Madam Sirleaf. She and our partners in progress will develop Liberia. We just need some time. You guys will be made shame. We will not support any WAR CRIME COURT in Liberia. Reason being that it will undermine reconciliation. Most importantly, you guys want to arrest and handcuff Ellen. Let us bury our hatchet. Ellen was never part of any Rebel group including Taylor NPFL. We forgive LURD''s Daminte Conneh, Prince Johnson, George Borly, Black Bera''s Brownie Samuka, Alihaji Kromah, Rosevelt Johnson, Francio Massaquo, and Aheshi Conneh. We want Ellen to be president for life. Long live the queeen. Your next traval trip must be at the Moon. Please don''t forget to plant the Liberian Flag while visiting the Moon. We love you. These people don''t know how good you are. You hate War. UNIMIL will remain in Liberia until you die in office.
    05/28/2007
  • They are all vultures with misplaced priorities. Instead of trying to help empower the very people who elected them to help contribute to the betterment of Mama Liberia they are rather seeking for their own financial gains. None have ever spoken about a public library in their districts for a nation with a high illiteracy rate or an IT training center.
    05/29/2007
  • I just read this fpa exckusive about the prince Alwaleed housing projuct. My question is what is role of the ministy of planning and the ministry of public works in producing the site plan for this projuct? I thought they are oversite responsiblity over such as design since no toliet is included in the project.
    05/30/2007
  • Can Ellen and her LOUSY SUPPORTERS tell the Liberian People why LPRC, NPA, LRPA, RIA, and etc ARE NOT PART OF THE PROPOSED 2007/2008 FISCAL BUDGET? How will their impervious answers benefit Liberia? This OLD LADY is a political ventriliquist and a moral depravity of kleptocracy. She did the same thing last year and nothing came out of it. She got away with it. We were not stupid, but her bribed Media criminally ignored the severity and extremity and swept the story under the rug. Ellen, STOP setting our Country up for more chaos. Are you telling us LPRC, NPA, RIA, and the Liberia Rubber Planters Association are not making money enough to be part of our BUDGET? Where these ENTITIES MONEY ARE GOING? I remember paying Government US$1,700.00 in order to clear my building materials from the Freeport of Monrovia. Just last month, I pay US$25.00 for airport tax while coming back to the States. What happened to my money? Are they unaccounted for? Ellen, your 15000/18000 gods will not be in Liberia forever. STOP!!!! A hint to the wise is quite sufficient.
    05/30/2007
  • Corruption and greed are the main and only substances which flow through the veins and arteries this group of individuals.
    05/30/2007
  • ms johnson sirleaf will not allow massive corruption to occur. there will always be corruption but not at the high levels that the preceding administrations were privy to. there will always be allegations but to not have allegations is purely a crime in a dictatorships that we had. as a liberian in america, i cannot fathom the high levels of corruption that occurs in liberia. it takes a worman to run this show with class and dignity (something that has never occurred in our history) We liberian should be thankful and not spend our time constantly critizing. ARE YOU PART OF THE PROBLEM OR THE SOLUTION????????
    05/30/2007
  • I beliee there a few rotten apples among the legislators that are persuading their colleagues to enact selfish laws that plunge our country deeper into poverty rather than taking it out of poverty.
    05/30/2007
  • they are all gravy seekers and rebel as charles taylor
    05/30/2007
  • Liberians both home and abroad, anticipate sound Legislations regarding candidates vying for positions in the house of Legislature in conformative to International Legislative standards. To the dismay of the Liberian people, they busy making laws to accommodate their selfish and personal aggrandizement. Thanks be to God for a Level-headed Executive for vetoeing their selfish, useless and so-called Act.
    05/31/2007
  • These guys are heartless and do not love this country. But what do you expect of a group of half educated, non skilled and ill-professionals. Just this. Also, the fact that a good percent of these guys are from some political parties that claimed they have a politicle force given they percentage of votes in their favour during this elections would have said nothing to this art but have press conferences to criticize the government budget and other ossue relative to the budget and then the rice issue shows that they are in support of these guys and they too care not for the liberian people but their own political gain which even a child can guess to do worst than those in house.corrupt, flirt, and Etc
    05/31/2007
  • Speaking about rebel Leader turned President Charles Taylor, he is the one most Liberians love and like to see him President again. You guys know it. If he was released from prison today and ELECTIONS were held, HE WILL OVERWHELMINGLY WIN THE PRESIDENCY.It has been proven time and again.
    05/31/2007
  • I am very concern about the liberian lawmakers. I do not know if they understand what is at stake for the country. They are not enacting laws that will take care some of the problems we have in the country such as improving the sanitary conditions that have taken over the countyr for centuries, but they are seeking their own interest. What will they do to be remebered for by the next generation?
    05/31/2007
  • Let''s get Ellen an apartment in DC. Oh, and while were''re at it, GOL should expand the Embassy creating a field office for the queen of Afrique Noire.
    05/09/2007
  • Before blaming them, blame Ellen first. She is as corrupt as the legislators.
    05/09/2007
  • The Legislative Branch: Perhaps for the first time in the history of our beloved country-Liberia; we are experiencing a total separation of Power-and- adding further to the debate, this independence has also manifested itself in the Supreme Court. These Lawmakers should be commended for taking bold steps, be it in Revisting previous/decade old Contractual Agreements, to a thourough examination of The National Budget. Today, we are witnessing a new kind of institution -Democracy-a dispensation by the people to their elected officials-that good governance requires a check -and balance-system. Fellow Liberians, we must all celebrate this new enterprise-something we have all long for since 1847. Masu Fahnbulleh North Carolina
    05/09/2007
  • In the not too distance furure, they will be the best Liberia have ever had if they weed out the bad, corrupt and unqualified individuals,
