MOST INTRIGUING STORY POLL COMMENTS

The election of Madame Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf as the first ever female African Head of State was intriguing. One thing I know for sure is that Liberia has always been the first to lead the way for major political changes in Africa. Take the case of former Liberian Dictator Taylor. That was a heavy decision for any nation to take. "Turning Taylor over to be tried for atrocities he supported in Sierra Leone and not in Liberia?" That's a heavy decision for any nation to make. Watch out, there are more surprises to come... Daniel T. Vivour Concern Liberian Bangkok, Thailand

Ellen comes on strong but the govt. needs to send a message to govt. officials.

I do believed, the ECOWAS audit report was indeed the most interesting event in the history of our country Liberia. It is interesting because since 1847 up to 2005, we as a nation have not conducted or carry out such audit in government for this reason the issues of corruption is rampant in government. I want to express my sincere thanks and appreciation to members of the ECOWAS Audit Committee for such a wonderful job well done, before the audit could be conducted Liberia used to be called an elephant'' meat but as off today's date before any administration leave office I do believe an audit committee should be set up to carry out the same exercise so that those who will take government position will be very careful how to manage the country's money. For years formal government officials took the country's money without any punishment taken against them. Thanks, it's idw from the State of Connecticut

The E L E C T I O N of President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf was not a 2006 event. Perhaps you meant inauguration.

The election of Ms Sirleaf as President of Liberia is huge because beside being historical, it opened the door for the freedom and inclusion of women In African politic. In my opinion women make good politician because they are more concern about the welfare of the nation and its people than their self interest. I'm sure that she will transform Liberia into a Paradise in Africa. Liberians have to embrace her government in Unisom to rebuilt the country. Criticize when criticism is due and praise when praising is due. The main problem in my opinion is that there are too many news outlet that are not responsible and discipline in reporting their stories. They don't even checked out the facts before reporting the story. Also, there are too many different political factions that are self centered and do not have the country at heart. Ellen will prevail, keep up the good work. Sam Perkins, U.S.A.

This removed the stigma many women in Africa faced... they can not be leader or need to sit on the fence of politics. Sawmadal, Aaron N.D.

Charging Mr. Bryant with possible crimes members of NTGL may have committed is ludicrous at best. Remember, Mr. Bryant did not choose his own cabinet ministers. They were selected by Warlords from different fighting groups who had their own agendas. Mr. Bryant did not even have the authority to fire any of these ministers for malfeasance or other misconduct. The configuration of the transitional government was such, it was meant to be the problem it became. Thanks, G. Freeman
